Our summer escape to Camp Wandawega
Our kids currently go to preschool year-round. Every July they are off for one week and every July we go somewhere fun. The weather in Arkansas is brutally hot during this time, so traveling someplace a little less hot is always a big incentive, too. This past year, we traveled to Wisconsin and stayed at a lovely little place called Camp Wandawega.
One day I was on Instagram and saw a picture of the coolest treehouse I’d ever seen and I immediately thought, “If that’s a place we can actually visit, we are totally going there for our summer vacation.”
Turns out it is and we did.
It was an incredible week. The weather was perfection. We swam in the lake, jumped off the docks, went on canoe rides, hiked, spent each night by the campfire making s’mores, played good old-fashioned games, caught fireflies in mason jars, laid in hammocks, swung on tire swings, and of course, spent some fun times in that treehouse. Everything about that vacation was nostalgic. We were the only ones on the campgrounds. We had the entire place to ourselves. The staff was amazing and the kids constantly ask, “When are we going back to Camp Wandawega?!”
I’m not sure where we will be traveling to this July; we are still trying to figure that one out, but I know this place will be hard to beat!
Because Camp Wandawega is gorgeous and I knew that treehouse would be something special to capture, I hired a photographer to take a few photos for a couple of hours one afternoon. She was amazing and I’m so glad we have these images we will forever cherish. They also doubled as the perfect Christmas gifts for the grandparents. Win-win!
